A Little About Westwood

This quiet little town was once known as West Dedham and the last of many surrounding settlements to have split from now-adjacent Dedham and form its own community.  Today Westwood is undergoing major capital projects to revitalize its commercial tax base by attracting big businesses with infrastructure improvements.  Typical of many a Massachusetts community, Westwood can claim its share of interesting factoids, such as being home to the oldest animal pound in the United States, and being a “dry town” until 2005, when restaurants were finally able to hold liquor licenses.
