A Little About Brewster
After secession from now-neighboring Harwich when less-affluent residents protested that all the public institutions were located in present-day Brewster, the town today is mostly middle-class, with many historic mansions that once belonged to rich sea captains having been converted into inns and taverns. Tourism is the major industry in town, though there is also a year-round retirement community.
