A Little About Wakefield
Named after a local benefactor, Wakefield has gone through several names for various reasons over its more than three hundred-and-sixty years of existence. It is ten miles north of Boston and currently serves as something of a bedroom community, though some high-technology companies maintain a local presence. For its size, Wakefield has an impressive range of ethnic restaurants, and almost half the townscape is open space, forest, or wetland. The Wakefield Quannapowitt Yacht Club is the oldest inland boat club in the country.
